S'mores

Today was the first VERY cold day in Tokyo. We decided to have a fire, and as a special treat for the boys, roast marshmallows. It was a treat well deserved since they both did a wonderful job speaking at church today. We ALL gave talks, except Isa of course who still has a very limited vocabulary. Yum!

Sold!

After 6 months in the market, we sold our little townhome in Michigan. People tell us that we are lucky since the market is so bad there (only 10% of listed homes are selling). We are happy, yet sad to say goodbye to our first home. Lots of good memories...

Can't sleep, therefore I blog

It is now 1:00 am in Tokyo and I'm wide awake. I fell asleep in the couch at 9:30 while watching an episode of Monk and woke up briefly to get myself to bed for a much needed long night of sleep. Unfortunately, I woke up around midnight and couldn't make it back to my dreamworld, so I thought I might as well get caught up in the blog world.
We came back from Malaysia on the 30th. We arrived at our house around 9pm so we told the kids we would open presents the next morning and pretend it was Christmas. To our surprise they happily agreed. They were so excited to see the presents around the tree, but since they had been away from their toys for 10 days, they were content to play with them for the time being.
The next morning we slept till 8:00 and opened presents. It felt like Christmas all over again. Isabel LOVES unwrapping presents. She got lots of practice before our trip when she found the gifts I had wrapped for the Omdahls and opened them all. We had a hard time keeping her from opening everyone's presents. The boys were very kind and let her help them with most of their gifts. Then, we had the delicious Grandma Mylroie's Christmas breakfast and relaxed for the rest of the day.
The rest of the week was just as relaxing. Japan is pretty much closed from Jan 1-4 so Cameron didn't have to go to work the whole week. It was so much fun to be together every day and go on walks, bike rides and play at the park, watch movies and eat, eat, eat. Grandma Mylroie gave me a recipe book stand so I felt like cooking everyday. We had yummy food and lots of treats.
Last Saturday we put away our Christmas decorations (so sad!) and Monday we got back to our routine, Cam to work, boys to school. Isabel and I miss our boys terribly, so we enjoy them that much more when they get home.
We'll have a pretty busy week with doctor check ups, soccer and Vanya will start piano lessons on Thursdays. He is SO excited, I hope it'll last.
